Privacy policy
Draft. Have a solicitor review this before launch. It has to name your registered entity, contact address and the jurisdictions you actually operate in.
The short version
- • We do not sell your data. There is no advertising tracking.
- • Your buyer identity is hidden from suppliers and from the public until you award.
- • Your supplier identity is hidden from competing suppliers and from the public until you are awarded.
- • Emails and phone numbers are stripped from every published field automatically, before anything is rendered.
- • Contact details gathered from third parties are never published.
What we collect and who sees it
| Data | Why | Who sees it |
|---|---|---|
| Account email, password (stored hashed), your name | To sign you in and identify you to your company | You and platform admins. Never other users. |
| Company profile — legal name, country, city, website | To represent your company publicly | The public, only after you claim the profile. |
| Certifications and licences you upload | To earn a verification badge | Admins review them. The badge is public; the documents are not. |
| Requests for quotation and rates you submit | To run the auction | Requests are public with the buyer masked. Rates are visible to the buyer and to competing suppliers, never tied to a name. |
| Contact details found from third-party sources | To invite a company to claim its profile | Platform admins only. Stored in a table that has no public access policy at all. |
| Messages exchanged after a mutual reveal | To let you negotiate the deal | The two parties to that conversation. |
Your rights
Depending on where you live — GDPR in the EU/UK, the DPDP Act 2023 in India, CCPA in California and others — you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or export your personal data, and to object to our processing of it.
To exercise any of those rights, or to opt out of outreach entirely, email support@maritime-broker.com. We will action it and confirm. Opt-outs are recorded as do_not_contact, so they survive every future campaign rather than being forgotten.
Cookies and analytics
We use a session cookie so you stay signed in, plus privacy-respecting, cookie-free analytics to count page views. No advertising pixels, no cross-site tracking, and no data sold to third parties.
Retention and deletion
Account data is retained while your account is open. Bid histories are kept as a business record of awards, and to settle disputes. On request we delete your account, except for records we are legally required to keep.
